If you are visiting Martins Oak Surgery please continue to wear a mask and observe other distancing guidance. We need to protect vulnerable patients AND STAFF in the Surgery and ensure we can continue to provide a safe service.  Masks & hand gel are still the best defence to protect us ALL.

So we can continue to see patients face to face safely our Clinicians will continue to telephone you before face to face appointments are booked in.

COVID 19 Vaccination programme - LATEST NEWS

National Booking System for all eligible patients to book is via 119 or via the  www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination site.

 General announcement 

Contrary to some press and internet stories, most GP Surgeries have never stopped seeing patients.  From day 1 we continued to see patients in the surgery for assessment, review and treatments if face to face appointment was indicated.  We have transformed the way we work to enable more patients than ever to be helped by rapidly replacing carpets with vinyl to allow more rooms to be opened to face to face appointment.  We offer telephone, video, email consultations and yes we still do home visits.  Front door triage ensures all patients having to attend are a safe and distanced as possible and leave by other doors to the front to avoid crossing paths.  We clean down after EVERY patient.   At no time since the start of this pandemic has anyone been away from surgery duty unless annual leave, or shielding and this is a testament to the dedication of amazing team from Patient Administration dealing with over a thousand calls a week; our Nursing Team working tirelessly seeing their regular patients for dressings, injections, blood tests and urgent patching up;  to Doctors who have had to adapt overnight to using technology to continue to see patients in a different way and using their skills and knowledge to try to best help those in clinical need.  With the measures we have had to put in place we have managed to avoid bringing Covid-19 into the surgery and been able to maintain and expand our services to our patients.   Whilst Covid-19 is still a threat we will continue to telephone triage patient facing appointments.  We are still working on reduced waiting room numbers and try to never have more than 6 people in the waiting room at any time.

ALL patients attending the Surgery for their pre-booked appointment will be asked to wear a face covering or mask in line with the latest advice and because we know that others in the waiting room could be at risk or ill.  A mask is a simple precaution to keep yourself, other patients and all our staff safe and well.

In Times of Bereavement

If Death Occurs At Home

1. Telephone the doctor who will visit to confirm that death has taken place (unless a Community nurse is present who can do this)

2. Contact a funeral director.

3. Arrange to collect the doctor's Medical Certificate of Death (usually from the surgery).

4. Take this to the Registrars Office, (together with the deceased's Medical Card and Birth Certificate, if available) for the area in which the death took place. Alternatively you can register by declaration at any convenient Registrars Office but certificates will not be available as these will have to be posted to you a few days later.

5. The Registrar will normally issue a Green coloured certificate for you to give to your funeral director who will look after necessary arrangements for the funeral. The Registrar will also issue a white notification certificate for the DSS. They will also enquire as to the number of Certified Copies you require for dealing with the deceased finances (a fee is payable for each copy).

If The Death Occurs In Hospital

1. Contact a funeral director to inform him his services are required.

2. Collect the certificate from the hospital then follow 4 - 5 as above

Note For Cremation

Your funeral director will usually liaise directly with the surgery regarding the additional certification required.

Births, Death and Marriages – new out station in Bexhill

 

Hastings Register Office is going to have a registration out station at Bexhill Library on a Tuesday and Thursday, for the registration of Births, Death and Marriages.

 

Booking for these appointments can be made on-line at the East Sussex County Council website –eastsussex.gov.uk/registration

 or by telephoning the Hastings Office on 0345 60 80 198.
